Song of Simeon or Nunc Dimittis is a short setting of the prayer recorded in the Gospel of Luke spoken by Simeon upon witnessing the infant Jesus. A simple setting which begins humbly with Simeon's request to be allowed to depart, this work emphasizes the Gloria section with a tempo and dynamic change, meant to celebrate the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit more than anything else.  Only moderately adventurous tonally, the added-tone chords can nevertheless present some challenges.
